About the Course

In the modern world, rich in diverse fields and moral and legal dilemmas, monetary law professions constitute the backbone of the Jewish community and of rabbinical law in particular. Studies in this field are not merely theoretical pursuits, but a practical and in-depth path for training professionals who lead their communities with broad halachic knowledge and practical ability to rule and decide on complex issues.

Choshen Mishpat is a central part of the Shulchan Aruch, dealing with monetary laws, civil law, and economic relations between individuals. Studying Choshen Mishpat involves deep exploration of laws related to damages, property, contracts, and other legal matters concerning wealth and assets. A thorough understanding of Choshen Mishpat enables one to offer halachic legal advice, render decisions in monetary matters, and guide the community on financial and ethical issues.

Studying Choshen Mishpat, along with laws of damages and monetary matters, contributes to strengthening social and communal justice. It helps ensure that every dispute is resolved fairly and according to Torah law, thus providing essential tools for maintaining harmony and peace within the community.

In an era when many Western values permeate daily life, the study of Choshen Mishpat ensures that we can continue to manage economic matters according to Torah law.

Professional expertise in these areas opens doors to diverse career opportunities—from serving as a rabbi who adjudicates monetary disputes within the community, to acting as a rabbinical advocate who assists in cases of financial conflict and disputes in rabbinical courts.

These studies deepen halachic knowledge and allow students to gain a profound understanding of Jewish legal theory, equipping them with the tools to address a wide range of legal and halachic issues.

The course of study spans two years, with a weekly two-hour class, and upon successful completion, graduates will receive a certificate signed by the rabbis of the Lemaan Yilmedu certification board.
