The Orach Chayim programme is an extensive course that will equip the course participants to navigate day-to-day halachic scenarios with confidence. The classes will cover topics from Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah including Krias HaTorah, Hilchos Beis HaKnesses, Hilchos Tefillah, Brachos, Tzedakah and Mezuzah.
For the 2024/2025 year, Cape Town's "Kollel Halacha" will be studying the Orach Chayim course, which represents a giant first step forward in practical halachic knowledge. While the more common Semicha on Yoreh De'ah focuses primarily on the intricate laws of kashrus, this course covers a much wider range of halachic topics that arise in daily Jewish life. These include Krias HaTorah, Hilchos Tefillah, Brachos, Tzedakah, Mezuzah, and Hilchos Beis Haknesses.
The course explores the halachos of these various topics with a focus on practical application. Custom designed course materials provide translations and visual aids to ensure that the minute details of the halachos are crystal clear.
If you’re ready to broaden your halachic expertise for practical application, the Lemaan Yilmedu Orach Chaim track is for you. In just one year, it will enhance your ability to respond to questions for your own family and for others around you.
In further years the "Kollel Halacha" will be studying 1. Hilchos Shabbos, 2. Practical Hilchos Kashrus, 3. Business Halacha, and 4. Semicha Yoreh De'ah (in depth Kashrus).
Please note, that while we are developing a five year plan, a commitment to this year does not in any way require a commitment to further years of study.
The Tuesday night Shiurim by Rabbi Avi Shlomo will be recorded and uploaded to your portal, but the programme is designed and intended for in-person Shiurim. Wednesday night will be the in-person Chavrusa Beis Medrash learning and discussions on any questions.
The year-long course will cover topics such as: Kriyas HaTorah, the halachos of a Shul, Davening, Brachos, Tzedakah and Mezuzah. The learning will take place both on an individual level, using Lemaan Yilmedu’s signature, easy to understand, course materials, and in a group format.
